I believe that no matter how intelligent one is, if they study with the wrong materials, they have a high chance of failing that exam. “I arrived for the exam on the OSCE day at 7am. After waiting several hours, my number was called and I went into the hall. I was a little nervous but I just tried to keep my cool and I told myself that I was ready. We had also prepared for some questions that were flying around, so I tried to be calm. The first shocker was that at my first station, there was a young doctor who asked my name and if I was afraid. I replied that I was just a little afraid. He then told me not to worry and that he understands that we have been there since 7am and it wasn’t fair to us students. He then told me to calm down and explained that whole station to me (zoonotic diseases) and told me that although I won’t be starting at that station (due to the simulation of the Oder), I should dwell on what he has shown me so when I get back there, I would know what to say😃😃😃😃. I was in shock, and this suddenly boosted my confidence. I went on to other stations and did my thing without any fear or doubt. Although the doctors in my cell didn’t go out of their way to help (except two doctors), they also weren’t mean to me. Most of them made little corrections to point me to exactly what was in their marking scheme. And some of them gave signs of approval by nodding their heads or giving a thumbs up after the exam. One thing for sure is that without GOD and the help of ACEMEDIX, it would have been almost impossible. I felt adequately prepared and knew almost everything that I saw at the OSCE. Nothing was entirely strange 🙏🙏🙏🙏 Ibadan wasn’t what everyone thought it was, Ibadan was nice to a lot of us.”

“Ok make I no lie... It was overwhelming just thinking about the whole MDCN. People would scare you by saying “MDCN is this”, “MDCN is that”, “you need to read the whole of this guide or that”. But the first day I heard you talk about it, you said it’s just like one of my school exams but the only difference was that I had to greet everyone 😀😀. You mapped out a plan for us, with dos and don'ts, such as reading with intent and precision and not filling our heads with unnecessary stuff. I followed that, together with a lot of practice with friends, prayers and believing. But I must say ooooo, nothing prepares you for the kind of tension you would feel on that day in front of your examiner. You'd almost pass out sef. God will do 50% of the heavy lifting, Acemedix got 30%, the remaining 20% is for you. Work on your confidence, work with time. You will have sleepless nights with coffee (hmm, it got to a point I was just licking coffee). You'd probably come out crying after the exam, but as long you are confident, bold and you never stop talking until the bell rings, you will smile.”

Wow! I can’t put into words how grateful I am to Acemedix and the tutors. I had only about two months to prepare from this exam. I went from having little to no confidence to clerking and counseling like it was my second nature. The tutors were always so patient and encouraging. Even if you fumble, they’ll find a way to correct you without making you feel stupid and Dr. Zoe never left anyone behind. I began the tutorials ending of August 2019 when i came back home. I was already 15 classes late as the tutorials started earlier in July.Was actually contemplating if i should join or not cause i was already late.I reluctantly joined as there was no other option for me in Port harcourt. I was way behind my mates. They had already gone far with some clerking and counselling topics and were already so fluent with them. Then I thought to myself, 'Will I be able to meet up?' The 1st OSCE mock I did in AceMedix was like a nightmare cause it was just the 1st week I came. I didn’t understand what was going on,but was encouraged by one of the tutors who told me that I actually did well, being my first time. After the mock I pledged to myself to watch the revision videos for the missed classes so I can get my stand in class.Those videos really helped me a lot. I must say i was able to cover a lot of topics even without finishing the Guide. I kept praying and asking God for his grace as i already knew that the exam wasn’t about how much one knows.I kept on using Ace Medix materials and guidelines, didnt have time to go through other materials. I just read some relevant ones like Pediatrics in pics,Instruments and study groups. With the next OSCE mock,my confidence level came up a bit. I got better at my understanding of the exam,especially the time factor.I endeavored to finish all the revision videos so i didn’t miss relevant topics. I must tell you, one of the questions in the exam came from there(Ante-natal booking clerking). Story for another day, but I didn’t write my mdcn when i should have and had been at home too long. I had lost touch with medicine. I could not remember everything I studied for 7 years of my life. My first attempt at MDCN Exam in Kano was unsuccessful. I was shattered, didn't know where I went wrong. Good lord! I can’t believe that I’ve passed this exam! Both before and after I came back to Nigeria, I had heard horrific stories about MDCN. I was told that you could fail even if you’re intelligent and have clinical experience. Acemedix got advertised to me and I was there a few days to my graduation contemplating if I would join or not. I don't know where to start from. Acemedix has really helped me. On the OSCE day, my confidence level was on top, thanks to the mock sessions we did. For me, I think Acemedix mock sessions were even stricter, because my invigilators in the actual exams were so friendly. When I started Acemedix tutorials I didn’t know squat about picture tests but with his tutorials I didn’t have to cram picture tests—which was my game plan. It got so easy for me that I could not only identify pictures easily, but I could also say a few things about a picture even before reading the question! This tutorial was amazing. Excellent. I stepped out of the exam on the second day and I was grateful for the tutorial. Every paper I picked, every question I saw had been taught by Dr Livi Livi. He kept saying: “read the basic things”; I never listened. I wish I did. I wouldn’t have stressed myself as much, because when I saw my questions they were as basic as the word.
